Public feedback

Hello.

We've been monitoring comments on our proposals for active travel over the last ten days and there are a number of comments stating we should be spending our money on council services. We just want to help clarify the situation, so you, the public, are aware of what's going on.

As it stands, PKC is competing for funding via Sustrans and its 'Places for Everyone' programme (recently rebranded from the Community Links PLUS programme). As it stands, we are looking at a substantial bid. Why? Two reasons:

  • We have an opportunity to use in-house capital programmes to leverage in funding, and;
  • We believe investing in streets for people is the right thing to do.
  • As it stands, we are using capital funding from the following programmes to leverage in funding:

  • A9/85 junction
  • CTLR
  • Placemaking
  • Lighting
  • Tay Cities Deal (Tay Adventure & Active Travel Hub submissions)
  • Green Infrastructure Fund
  • There is no impact on education or housing capital programmes. If anything, this investment will complement funding in these areas, by making it easier and safer for people to move around.

    The proposals close to public consultation on the 29th March, so please use the link below to share and comment in the meantime.

    Thanks
